CoolLipo is a laser-based lipo technology that breaks up and removes fat cells in areas that are typically difficult for traditional liposuction to treat, such as under the neck, jowls, and chin. CoolLipo actually liquefies the fat, making it easier to break up and remove. It uses the 1320nm light wavelength to melt the fat and stimulate collagen growth for skin tightening.
The procedure is simple and most patients report only minimal pain. Tiny fibers are inserted into small incisions made in the skin. These fibers carry laser energy to the desired areas. A physician controls the energy exerted by the laser, thus destroying fat cells more gently than conventional liposuction. This unique approach stimulates collagen production, promoting tighter skin over several months.
At this week's meeting of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, Dr. Neil Sadick will be speaking at a presentation titled, "Histological Comparison of SmartLipo and CoolLipo Laser Lipolysis." The presentation is held at 10:45am on Friday, January 29. The goal of the study was to evaluate the two laser lipo methods for safety and effectiveness.
